    NFL Quarterback Helmet Stickers

While watching some preseason NFL games, I’ve noticed that some of the quarterbacks have little lime green circular stickers on the back of their helmets. Anyone out there have any insight on why the stickers are on some but not all of the quarterbacks helmets?

The green sticker indicates that the helmet has the communication equipment enabling the QB to communicate with the coaches. Only one of these can be on the field at a time, so they have the sticker to identify them. One of the officials has the responsibility of checking for more than one sticker.

If you have two QB's on the field for some reason (like a trick play) then one of the QB's has to wear a helmet without the communication equipment.

The announcers were discussing it last night during the Bears/Colts game.
