1980's ACC & U of Richmond basketball items

Growing up in Virginia in the 1980's I absolutely loved ACC basketball. I have always collected schedules, magazines, media guides, even video tapes but have never tried to jump into the game used arena for this particular area.

I thought I'd test the waters and see if anyone has any ACC or University of Richmond game used stuff they' like to part with. I'd also really love to see photos of items that you might have in your collection, even if not for sale, so I could get a feel for makers, tagging, etc.

These are not for sale. I grew up in North Carolina, and like you, I have a passion for ACC basketball. They are hard to come by, but do exist. I just picked up a 1960s Wake Forest jersey that I have yet to photograph.

Abe - I live 5 minutes from UR. I havent seen any game used stuff out there but tell me what you are looking for and I'll look. Are you also looking for other UR memoribilia?

Thanks, I appreciate you looking around for me. I'm looking for any UR basketball stuff from about 1982-1990, really all the Dick Tarrant years. Game used would be great but I'm also interested in media guides, yearbooks, posters, picture schedules, etc.

I grew up in Richmond and Montpelier. I used to go to the UR basketball camp in the summers while in high school. I also used to go to quite a few games so those teams really left and impression on me.

Abe - I make the rounds at all the local antique stores and such and se UR memoribilia all the time. I'll let you know what I find.

Do you remember the Ukrops shopping center up the road from UR? I live a block away from there.

Yes, I know that shopping center well. I actually used to work for a greenhouse after school and during the summer and we made weekly deliveries to that Ukrops. It's a small world.

Abe, not from 1980s, but I thought I would mention that I have one of Nate James' game worn and signed Duke scrimmage jerseys. Also, I have JJ Redick's game worn/photo-matched shoes from his freshman year at Duke. The provenenace for each is rock solid. Thanks,

Here is the Wake jersey that I just obtained. From the Sand Knit tagging, I know it is from the early to mid 60s. If anyone can identify the exact year, player or has any photos, please let me know.

I went to high school with the guy who played center for UR in the late 80s / early 90s. His in-laws actually live next door to my mother in law. He was on the UR team that beat Syracuse in the 1991 tournament. I still remember watching that game at some random sports bar in FL during spring break of my 4th year at UVa - the whole place went nuts when the buzzer sounded. It was surreal seeing someone I knew in high school show up on the "One Shining Moment" video a couple weeks later.

Kid - havent seen any UR stuff here lately, although I did spot a VT poster of some kind auto'd by some older players. Also saw a Douglas Freeman HS football jersey at Goodwill! haha
