Western's bat

I have come across a Western's bat from what looks to be in the 1930's. It's a Luke Appling model. I'm having a hard time coming up with any info on this company and what to look for if its a pro model and possible game used. Any info?

I've seen one or two other Western bats before. I don't ever recall hearing of any being professionally used and have not heard anything about the company itself. I would be interested in seeing pictures of the bat.
