I want so badly to post pictures of my room but I am still hand building all the cabinets and working area. I picked this up today for a little seating for the office.

Original Comiskey Park row of Seats.

I can't wait to finish this room and show the pictures. The pictures are from the auction I won the seats from.

Glen - I know of someone selling a single Comiskey seat. Can I ask what you paid for those?

Jim,

I won them on ebay for $616 but had to pay sales tax + whatever. I believe the total for the row was about $675. I thought this was a good deal because single seats go from anywhere between $175-$450. You can by a pair of the just replaced blue plastic chairs from the White Sox for $440. I had to tell the wife I needed a new "couch" for the office I am building. She was reluctant but I have wanted these for a while.

That is a nice chair and the price is still in the range for what I have been seeing. Notice the row I have are from the infield box section hence the rounded style.

Normally for the one chair to get to the $400-$500 range it has to be an end ailse seat with the art deco iron work.

Glen,
Outstanding seats! What years are those from? They look completely original, which I think is really important when it comes to seats. Are the numbers carved into the slats? They look great. Never seen that before.

I have a beautiful set of all-original Atlanta Fulton County Stadium seats from 1966-1977. They're a couple of my favorite items. Even my wife thinks they're cool. I'll try and post a couple of pics soon.

Here is some info on these chairs.

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i255/chicagoglen/comiskey24.jpg

These curved back seats were added in the 40's
and mounted on the concrete risers. They were
originally mounted as box seats near homeplate but
were later salvaged and remounted in other areas along
the baselines when the Sox added new plastic
"Gold Box" seats in 1982. The engraved numbers no
longer made sense, so new painted numbers were added.

The slatback seats dated back to the 1920's.
In nearly 60 years of use, most of them were never
moved even once. Gobs and gobs of paint
covered both the seats and the risers.

Here is a picture of the end Aisle seats.

Just thought I would post some info.

Thanks,

Glen

I love the Comiskey seats! I've always wanted some Wrigley one.

Jim,
I've got to ask, is that a stadium wall? That is awesome!

It's a replica made by the same company who makes many of the stadium wall systems, including Yankee Stadium. I couldn't make myself spend the amount of money on a real Yankee Stadium wall - I'd rather put that into a Game Used Bat!!

I would imagine you could get a really nice bat for what that would have cost you. It is still very cool though. Great room!

I am a big fan of the old stadium seats. Here is a picture of the Met stadium seat I have in my office. I also have an slat back seat from Comiskey in my office.

In my garage sits a row of four stadium seats from the old Met.

Sylbry,

Brian, did you buy the legs for your met stadium seats or have them made? I recently picked up two met stadium seats that do not have legs on them yet and am looking to either buy some or get some made.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Brian,

I asked someone with a torch and welder to make them for me. I used angle iron for the legs. Not the best looking but by far the strongest option.

Just this week found out I missed the Tiger Stadium seat sale. I friend had the cell # of the auction CEO, and I bout 2 seats with 15 minutes to spare before his contract with the City of Detroit ended for $294 delivered.

This was a direct sale, no auction on the seats. Every third seat was destroyed as they took a chain saw to that one so that the "pair" would both have an arm rest. I am told if you goto www.tigerstadiumsale.com (http://www.tigerstadiumsale.com) that there is a video of this...

Have a question: When I get the seats, if a local promoter ever does a large reunion show - what would everyone think of hauling the seats to the show and getting signatures on the seat back??? This is just a thought. I would not ever entertain hauling these things from show to show at a signature per clip mind you. Your thoughts are appreciated!
