    New York Yankees outfielder Babe Ruth, in a Giants uniform, with Giants manager John McGraw at an exhibition game with the Baltimore Orioles on October 3, 1923, at the Polo Grounds. Ruth played in the Giants outfield for the game, which was a benefit. George Grantham Bain Collection.

      David, Thanks very much. By the way,if players showed up for a benefit,that isn't shoeless Joe seated to Babe's right is it?

        FYI-it's not Joe Jackson in the photo. He was banned from MLB play after the 1920 season...never to set foot in another MLB ballpark, let alone wear a jersey. He did play in several barnstorming outlaw leagues, but never touched anything close to MLB play again. Hope this helps.
