Joe Torre-

Thanks for the years of playoffs, the world series championships and most of all the class with which you did your job!

Eric - I totally agree with your sentiments.

Last night, I emailed Brian Cashman to express my sincere displeasure with the fact that Torre won't be back. I doubt that he'll respond.

Steinbrenner is the biggest a-hole owner this side of Al Davis in professional sports. They would be so much better if they had an owner with some class, dignity, and professionalism.

Apparently Mr. Torre has had enough of all the bullsh*t from Mr. Steinbrenner......Joe wasn't even on the field playing, it's not his fault Jeter-Arod and Co. could not hit with RISP......

Hell of a great job by Mr. Torre since he started as manager for the Yankees ........everybody knows Joe's numbers , no need to put them up here.......

I grew up with a passionate hate of the Yankees (ala--George Brett who still can't stand 'em) during the glory years of the Royals/Yanks rivalry. There are some great things about the Yanks, especially historically (who doesn't love Babe Ruth, Yogi Berra, The Mick, or Donnie Baseball for example), but still the Yankees are the ultimate symbol of a sport that is ruined by money and an extremely unfair, unlevel playing field.

The Yankees are that brash, arrogant, holier than thou, and better than you, person that you just can't stand. If you're going to put yourself up on a platinum pedestal, and outspend everyone by that much $$$, be prepared for: the target on your back, the hate to flow, and the joy as well when you yet again fail to reach your potential (World Series Champions or bust)!

Baseball should emulate football, which is widely admired as the proper way to run a pro sport, where everyone is afforded the same opportunity and if you win or lose it's your own fault.

Joe Torre is the epitome of a class and take off the first to letters of class and that's what Steinbrenner is.

One could genuinly tell that Joe was totally disheartened by the events that led to him leaving the Yankee's. I can only hope that he remains in baseball as he still has a lot to give to the game he truly loves.

I agree Joe Torre is a class act. I can't care less about the Yankees as a whole...but its not the managers fault for their lack of offense/defense/pitching in the playoffs. They did all that work to make it to the playoffs for nothing!!!!! What a shame. If I were playing, it'd be embarassed!!! 4 guys making 20+ million and you look no better than a Double A team on the field. I'm proud of Torre having the guts to stand up for himself and not have his strings pulled anymore!

Joe Torre is a great manager and the Yankee's will miss him. But my question is could Joe Torre help my Pirate's from losing 15+ season's??
Maybe he could be the next Pirate's manager. Of course he wouldn't have a $200 million dollar payroll like the Yanks. Good Luck Joe!!!!

Will Joe end up somewhere else?

As a Met fan I will say,"The party's over"
But as a baseball fan I will say this:If your Father got treated this way by someone where you work, the members of the family who also work there should respond. In this case:
Mariano should go wherever Joe goes,Jeter should sit out a year,Posada should sign with whoever Joe signs with or sit out. A-Rod should..well A-Rod is just an idiot who's wife wears a T-sirt that says "F#*K you" on it so don't expect much there(Imagine Mrs Lou Gerhrig wearing such an item?)

You couldn't buy that respect. Don't sell out when your "Father" gets dispected, you quit the firm. "Family" comes first.
But then again this is a town where Isiah Thomas stays and Joe Torre ls forced to leave.
