Check this one our fellas (ladies)...

Is there an ethical issue going on with this auction? I want to email the seller to tell him that his item description is misleading...but before I over-react, I would like a few opinions. Please take a look...

Thanks in advance.

WOW now thats what I call misleading....

The title says "Scott Rolen Retro Game Worn St. Louis Cardinals Jersey" then it turns into "worn by Mike McCoy of the Memphis Redbirds" in the description. This is ridiculous

I also sent the seller an e-mail asking the seller why he is being this misleading.

Not sure what to think..may be a typo in the listing as he has another "McCoy" listed..Was Rolen on rehab w/ Memphis at this time? Seller also has an Ankiel gamer, but to the best of my knowledge, he was w/ the Cards on Sept 1, when this game was supposedly played.

Looks like Mike Smith was #27 this season - based on his number of games started, I would guess that he wore that number the entire season. I did notice the McCoy jersey...though he is listed as number 1 on the roster (Memphis website).

Rolen went on the DL permanently 9/6 so it is doubtful that he made a trip to the minors and took another player's number. I don;t want to attack the guy selling, as it appears he is selling for a charity (?) I hope he has good intentions.

That is kinda "unusual" as the seller says on the Ankiel jersey. If it was infact wore in Memphis like he says on Sept 1 then Rick obviously didn't wear it. I was at every game that series in St Louis and Ricky was on the field! He came up to St Louis on Aug 9 I believe.

He has added this at the bottom:

"It has been pointed out to me that there is a small error in the description. I use a template for these listings and missed changing Mike McCoy to Scott Rolen in one place. This jersey was worn by Scott Rolen. Mike McCoy's is a different auction. Hope this doesn't cause too much confusion."

Sounds resonable. But.

Did he miss the Sept 1 too? Rolen went on the DL Aug 31.

More problems... The Rick Ankiel jersey, which already has a $125.00 bid, was not worn by Ankiel. As there are signs of use from that night, someone else wore the jersey -- Ankiel was with the MLB club on September 1st, started the game for the Cards, and had a big day too! I emailed the seller...

Description says the jersey is size 46. Rolen could barely button a 46. He wore a 48 as a rookie 11 years ago and wore a 50 in 2007.

Ankiel wore a 48 after his call up this season.

Now something is just plain shady. Jeff, you are right...Rolen is 6'4" 220, probably goes 50-52?

WIth the amount of times the seller has been notified of the issues with his two main jerseys, the right thing to do would be to pull them from eBay until more info is discovered.

I would email the buyers of both, but eBay has put rules into place for what they call "transaction interference". I have already been warned for this (1000 transactions, 100% feedback). So I will rely on the message I sent to safe harbor...although that rarely works.

Did Rolen even play for Memphis this year? On their website they dont have stats from him or Kinney but both these jerseys are suppose to be game used.

Looks like the high bidder of the Ankiel pulled out after he added that it was "made for Ankiel but not game used"

Kinney had Tommy John surgery. I doubt he was even on the bench in Memphis...if anything, he would have been in the Card's dugout.

This dude is hurting.
