Hello everyone-

Wednesday afternoon I wrote ASI regarding its Shaun Alexander game used 2004 jersey on ebay which opens at $3999.99. I did not get a response (I emailed their ebay account AND their website), so I'll ask here if people think the lettering on the nameplate seems odd

Here's the link to the item

Here's a photo of the ASI jersey

Please notice the style of the letter "A" in this 2004 Seahawks jersey

Eric,

www.gameexclusives.com (http://www.gameexclusives.com) has an example of an Alexander jersey on their website for sale. If the Seahawks lose, I am sure the price will come down on the jerseys. They cut the prices of their colts jerseys dramatically after they lost.

Eric,

I'll toss in my 2 bits, not as someone who knows anything about football, but simply as someone who can discern fonts.

First, you may want to have a look at this thread:

http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_forum/showthread.php?t=1213

It shows some more views of the Seahawks 2004 (home) 'A'. It also shows another ASI 2004 Seahawks jersey. This one has the nameplate literally sewn onto the shoulders, as well as an incorrect 'K' and 'A'. Oddly enough, it uses the same style 'A' as the ASI Shaun Alexander you're asking about.
The thing is, the Seahawks appear to use a slightly different style 'A' for their home jerseys than they do on their road jerseys. Conversely, the ASI Seahawk jerseys use the same style 'A' for both.

Does the 'A' on the ASI Alexander match the style of 'A' that the Seahawks seemed to use in 2004 on their road jerseys? No. (It doesn't even match the style of 'A' used on their home jerseys). It appears to be a style of 'A' that the Seahawks did not use for their road or home jerseys in 2004. Furthermore, the font on the ASI Alexander is a 'condensed' style. I don't know about football, but I've seen some baseball teams sometimes use full size fonts for shorter names and condensed fonts for longer names. So you have to wonder if the Seahawks chose to use a condensed style for Shaun Alexander. The image below would suggest they didn't, at least for his home jersey.

The ASI Alexander is better than the ASI Hasselbeck as they didn't sew the nameplate right onto the shoulders. But it still has a style of 'A' that appears inconsistant with the game photos.

The 'gameexclusives.com' Shaun Alexander, on the other hand, shows the same font for the 'A' as the game photos. It also shows a non-condensed font size, consistant with the game photo above.

Rudy.

Update

Just to let everyone know, this auction ended with no bidders and no responses to my 2 emails to their ebay account and one email their website asking if they had an explanation for the difference in nameplate lettering.
