A lot of people have asked me about the TBTC jerseys the Astros wore on Saturday, 9/29/2007, as a tribute to Craig Biggio. These Majestic jerseys are modeled after the 1994-99 white/grey/navy jerseys.

The auction was held last night in conjunction with the Sunshine Kids 25th Anniversary Gala. It was a great event and a great cause. Unfortunately, Craig and his wife Patty couldn't make it as Craig was receiving the Roberto Clemente Award in Denver. I attended the Gala and was able to get 7 of the 40 or so jerseys. All were unwashed, showed great use for one game, autographed in silver on the back number, and MLB authenticated. The highlight was of course Craig Biggio's jersey. It was an incredible piece and went for $18,000.

I was able to pick up the following:

#9 Hunter Pence
#11 Brad Ausmus
#20 Josh Anderson
#21 Ty Wigginton
#41 Brandon Backe
#45 Carlos Lee
#54 Brad Lidge

I will post photos later on!

Thanks,

Sounds like quite a haul. Look forward to seeing these. How many different throwbacks did the Astros use this season?

Chris,

Are you going to offer any of these up for sale?

Here are the pictures! The Ausmus is framed. At the auction, the Ausmus, Biggio, and Berkman were sold in frames.

Josh,

That has been discussed a lot! Strangely enough, the Astros got the Friday night jerseys right on. I honestly think this is more of a function of Majestic than anything else.

Jerry,

Haven't decided yet on these. I have had a lot of customers interested in one, especially the Pence and Backe. I chose to get the ones I did for a reason (i.e. Backe winning pitcher and Home Run, Anderson, Ausmus, and Wigginton also got hit in their jerseys).

I will post items on my site or send out an e-mail for items that are available.

I believe the only TBTC jerseys the Astros wore were on Friday, 9/28/2007, and Saturday, 9/29/2007. I don't recall if they wore the full rainbows in the 2007 series versus the Rangers. I was overseas during the series and don't have good game notes from that time. The Astros Final series versus the Braves was a Craig Biggio tribute Weekend, where the team wore each style of jersey Biggio wore in his career, starting with the late 1980s/early 1990s Rainbow shoulders style.

Billy,

My site hasn't been updated in a while. My real job has had me swamped lately. I promise some updates this weekend though. I will also be adding a lot of other information such as a database of MLB Autnentiucation numbers the Astros used through 2007 for various game used equipment, bases, line-ups cards, and even Craig Biggio's catcher's gear from Saturday, 9/29/2007.

Shoot me an e-mail and I will add you to my mailing list!

Chris,

Who ended up with Craig's catching gear?

Mario,

I would suspect he kept his catchers gear for him and his family. Here is what was authenticated from the game on 9/29/2007:

Biggio Catcher's Helmet 1st Inning
Biggio Catcher's Helmet 2nd Inning
Biggio Chest Protector 1st and 2nd Inning
Biggio Left Shinguard
Biggio Right ShinguardBiggio's 3,059th Career Hit ball was also MLB authenticated (BB708000).

Since he wore two helmets (not obvious from watching the game), I would suspect the team might keep one and Biggio the other, or maybe for his two boys.

I will have the MLB authentication holograms from every item from the weekend series listed on my site.

Thanks,

Mario and Others,

Here is a picture of Craig sporting his catcher's gear on Saturday, 9/29/2007. As you can see, this hockey style mask was specially made for Craig. I wish I had photos of the other sides, as the painting was pretty sharp all the way around.
