Hi I Recently won this jersey on EBAy and after doing some research it I found many similar jerseys with a set B tag, this one has a set 1 tag. Can any Dodger experts try to explain the difference?

Thanks,

Congratulations, it appears to be a nice jersey and from what I can see in the pictures (that are less than adequate), it has the correct Goodman & Sons Labeling, the front font in Dodgers is correct for 1975 and the Dodgers used both Letter and Number set tagging. The only thing that may be an issue and it may just be the poor pictures, but the numbers and letters on the back appear to be white outlined and the Dodgers didn't do that until 1980....but it may be the pictures and it has single colored Blue on the back for the lettering and numbers.

Ron Cey is a great guy and was one hell of a player!

Great thanks for your info. The numbrers do not have white outlines, so I am pretty comfortable with this now.

Thanks again, this Forum is awesome.

If the letters are single color, then it has all the right traits and hallmarks for 1975 GU Dodgers Jersey.

Dave Meidema from MEARS posted this on the MEARS board yesterday in response to your questions. I own a 75 Dodgers jersey and always wondered what the reasoning behind the set letters and numbers was. It appears Dave checks out the GUU site from time to time. I for one would love to see him post here.

In answer to an off-site query about the set designations the Dodgers used while wearing Goodman jerseys from 1970-86, here's the 411:

Set A, B, C = home jerseys
Set 1, 2, 3 = road jerseys
Set P = 1974 and 1981 NLCS/WS jerseys.

In 1981, regular season knits weren't tagged. Postseason versions carried the set P dsignator (embroidered) as well as a printed 1981 box tag.

I went back and did my own research and what Dave says may be true and if that is the case, the Cey Jersey in question may not be right as it's a home jersey with a number as opposed to a letter.

Forget my last post....it's clearly a road jersey and as such it has the correct tagging....damn thing looks white in the pictures and not grey....but heck, the title says ROAD!!!!
