here is a link to a juan encarnacion cubs jersey..i dont believe that juan ever played for the cubs..is this mario encarnacions cubs jersey? if so it is from 2002 and not 2000..also according to a baseball reference on the internet it is the wrong number for mario encarnacion...thanks for any help

maybe the cubs gave mario encarnacion a circa-2000 jersey? but i suppose that still wouldn't explain the wrong number. unless it was a spring training jersey? ask dennis at sportswarehouse to send you some pictures of it as well as the team coa. that should help you discover what it really is.

If this jersey has a Cubs COA, it was likely sold at either the end-of-the-year "tent sale" at Wrigley or at the Cubs Convention. Years ago, it was common to find oddball Spring Training, AFL, or even minor league jerseys at these sales. The Cubs regularly issue jerseys that are tagged from previous years for Spring Training - especially for players not with the team the year before. I'd wager this jersey was made up for Encarnacion to wear in Mesa before he made the team in 2002.
