i am trying to do some homework a item that was obtained from a MLB umpire in the late mid 1990 or earlier. is there a way of finding out more about umpires on the internet. also are umpire listed anywhere for a particular game? are they listed on boxscores? thanks in advance

Nope looking for information on a Fred Brocklander. The person who has the item obtained it from this umpire but didnt think at the time to get a letter from the umpire at the time since he says COA were not that important at that time as they are now.

How much validity is there from a secondary certificate claiming it came from an umpire?

go to:

www.retrosheet.org (http://www.retrosheet.org)

they have boxscores for every game which include the umpires as well

I know some Brocklander stuff as hit the market before. I bid (and lost) on an NL umpire's shirt and hat from him that was on ebay a few months ago.

is it common for a umpire to come into the possession of a homerun ball that he umpired? seems kinda odd to me.
