I have this Babe Ruth 125 model bat with no inch mark stamping on the knob. The stamping tells me the bat is from the 1920's. Unfortunately, the bat is very short (32-3/4 inches) and very light (30.7 ounces). Too bad its not longer and heavier (a.k.a. $$$$$$$$$$$)
My question concerns the type of wood used to make this bat. I have several gamer bats from before WWII, and this Babe Ruth bat looks to be turned from something other than the typical wood of the era. I don't think it is Ash or Hickory. It looks more like oak. Anyone recognize this type of wood?
