Some time back there was a question raised on this forum as to what kind of bat Bobby Thomson used to hit his famous "shot heard round the world" home run in the 1951 playoff with the Dodgers. At one time the Baseball Hall of Fame had an ad out with a picture of a Louisville Slugger bat identified as the Thomson home run bat. This weekend I went to the "Baseball As America" exhibit in Dallas which is a traveling exhibit going around the country that has baseball items from the Hall of Fame. One of the bats on exhibit is Thomson's 1951 home run "shot heard round the world" bat from the playoff with the Dodgers and the bat is a tan colored Adirondack. The Hall simply had the bat wrong in the ad for some reason and it is an Adirondack as we had believed it was. Just to set the record straight.
