I was trying to see what items are the most scarce and most popular items to collect for a player. I ranked 8 items. Do you agree? I think most of you have more experience going to shows and scouring the internet.

Scarcity
1. Fielding Glove
2. Batting Helmet
3. Baseball Pants
4. Baseball Hat
5. Jersey
6. Batting Glove
7. Wristband
8. Bat

Popularity
1. Jersey
2. Bats
3. Hat
4. Batting Glove
5. Fielding Glove
6. Batting Helmet
7 Wristband
8. Pants

Wristbands are the hardest thing for me to find. Especially embroidered ones.

Personally, I am a priority bat collector - too much BS with jerseys.

I wonder why cleats aren't more popular. For me, they hold a lot of sentimental value, since I could remember as a kid always wanting to wear my favorite player's cleats. Of course, growing up outside of Seattle, there were plenty of Griffey shoes, but I always wanted Bagwell's cleats. I even made my Mom call back to Houston in 7th grade to see if they made any. So, when I had the opportunity to own these, I was of course very thrilled. Click on the shoes and you'll see what I mean.

Obviously I would never wear these, but still there's something sentimental about having your favorite player's cleats.

Kyle,

Something just seems gross about shower sandles. After all, there is scum on the bottom of them. I consider shower-sandles to be almost as bad as a game-worn jock.

And how can they be game-used? Unless player x took a shower during the game and wore them, then they are only athlete-used. Yuck - what made you want to buy shower-sandles in the first place?

Well ESM sold them to me as "GAME" used, so that's what I call them  . Eric once noted...."What games do they play in the shower?" :D ....and I got them because they were so cheap and to me, they seem like something you'll NEVER find.

I've got one of those shower-wrap things, you know the terry-cloth towel-like item with the velcro that you wrap around your waist, "locker room-worn" by Kelly Stinnett, when he was with the DBacks. I'm not sure that's any better than shower shoes, really...but in my defense, I got it really cheap.

Personally, my list would go:

1. Bat
2. Jersey
3. Fielding Glove
4. Batting Helmet
5. Field Jacket
6. Cleats
7. Hat
8. Batting Glove
9. Pants
10. Wristband

Had to toss in Field Jackets, of which I've got a few, just 'cause I think they're really cool, and as for scarcity, I'd guess that they're right up there with Fielding Gloves. My favorites are probably the one worn by the late Aurelio Rodriguez when he was managing for Chihuahua of the Mexican League, and one of Buck Showalter's specially-tailored short-sleeved jackets from the '99 Diamondbacks.

In my opinion I would say your pretty dead-on accurate with this list with the exception of 1 thing, I would say Fielding glove would be just as popular as a Jersey or bat because of the rarity but you may not see as many people go for them because they are very rare on the market / which causes high price tags on them and they are very hard to authenticate.

Think of it like this I am sure just about every collector here would love to have in there collection a fielding glove from there favorite player but what are the chanes of any of us obtaining one? slim, because of rarity / high price tag.

godwulf, I am trying to ge input for two separate lists. Which list is yours?

Scarcity
1. Fielding Glove
2. Batting Helmet
3. Field Jackets
4. Baseball Pant
5. Cleats
6 hats
7. Jersey
8. Batting Glove
9. Wristband
10. Bat

Popularity
1. Jersey
2. Bats
3. Fielding Glove
4. Hat
5 Batting Glove
6. Batting Helmet
7 Wristband
8. Cleats
9. Field Jacket
10. Pants

Does everyone think Field Jackets are game used items. I have seen pitchers use them when running the base. I guess if you are running pine, it is worn during the game.

Additional input would be helpful.

Cut and Paste and make your own list.

Dave;
Cardinal bats are also my priority and concur with you on the jerseys. Would have to say that some bats are easy to locate, however for me RP bats are the hardest to obtain. Some I have never seen...........
Enjoy your posts.

Yes. But I go to college in Oregon, so I live there for a good portion of the year.
