    ASI Authentic Sports Investments?

Never have purchased from them but I am looking at a pair of batting gloves that are game used and signed. Are they a trustworthy company? Anyone have any experiences with them?

    Thanks for the help.

Chakes are you the seller? I think the seller is a forum member because I swear I saw some of his stuff in the Pick Up thread once.

I have previously purchased a number of items from them both directly and through ebay. They have been pretty good although in the past few years it seems the amount and quality of items has dropped a bit. As far as authenticity, everything I have seen appears legit.

ASI - Authentic sports investments is the same clowns who run ESM. ASI got shut down for fraudlently activity Scot Manette reopened under a new brand name ESM. Don't trust them on anything.

Research scot manette and asi and you will find articles regarding him and ASI. he got busted bad with AROD fraudulent memorabilia and then had to rebrand.

Scot is the same guy who posts under "elite" on the message board currently

You mean WHEN he posts. He never responds to complaints - just advertises specials, etc. From what I have read about here...

I will stay away, though those gloves look to have the Dunn hologram.

I would peel the ASI hologram off of them.

my understanding is a little different. scot monette teamed up with brad wells to form ASI sometime in 2003. back then it was "authentic sports investments. here's one of their annual reports from 2004: http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2004/0406/87100B15.tif

sometime in 2005, they split. scot went on to form ESM / elite sports. brad stuck with ASI although he brilliantly changed the name from authentic sports investments to authentic sports incorporated. ASI didn't get shut down. unfortunately, they're still actively selling. here's brad's latest annual report: http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2007/0905/80063968.tif

in 2005, brad wells went on to start historic auctions. see here: http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2005/1024/40858944.tif

(the thing is, you need an auction license in florida and i can't seem to find one for Historic Auctions/Brad Wells/James Brown: https://www.myfloridalicense.com )

not content with being a dealer and auction house owner, brad figured the next brilliant thing to do would be to start an authentication service to service his auction house. here brad starts "expert sports authentication": http://www.sunbiz.org/COR/2006/0721/20791252.tif

                        here's some more info: http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_f...ead.php?t=4732

unfortunately for the hobby, both brad and scot continue to ply their wares as ASI/Historic and ESM respectively. scot's been noted on this forum for his penchant for refusing to respond to almost every question or issue. the last time he responded here was when he tried to assert that an ESM auction was not really an ESM auction: http://www.gameuseduniverse.com/vb_f...ad.php?t=13546

as for debacles, both companies have had more than their fair share. in my personal opinion, you'd be hardpressed to find 2 worse dealers. this forum and the old one at http://www.network54.com/Forum/379976/ is full of all sorts of stories about them. just do a search.

Rudy - I had purchased stuff from ASI back in 2001 and I thought they were together back in 2000.

Here is a 2001 Rafael Palmeiro I got from the old ASI.
