These items were left in Sammy's locker when he left the Orioles before the end of the season.

Sosa's gloves from 507th & 508th homeruns...plus the pic of him holding them after hitting the second (508th) homer of the game when he gave a curtain call:

That would be a unique piece.

Does anyone remember when Scot Monette went on ESPN and they cut up at least 1 Sosa game used bat on a saw to show his gamer bats didn't have cork inside?

Ingenuity and a sense of theater have helped. When Sosa's bat broke open during a game last year and revealed an illegal cork core, Monette called Sosa for assurance that it was a fluke. He also called baseball-card companies such as Upper Deck and Topps - which had purchased Sosa bats, shredded them into pieces and enclosed a slice with card packs sold to kids - to make sure they had never found any cork.

Thus assured, Monette appeared live on cable sports station ESPN with a saw and cut open the bat Sosa used to hit his 498th career homer, revealing nothing but wood.

"That showed that if you're represented by ASI, we're going to stick up for you, to spend $10,000 on a bat to prove you're honest," Monette said. "I can't tell you how many other players came up to me and said, "I saw you on TV, and I really respect you.' "

Good ole Slammin' Sammy, what a character!

quick question. what is that protection made of at the end of the bat. is it characteristic of eaton bats or characteric of sosa bats. if the later, does this extend to other brands of bats sosa uses.

The knob has a heavily taped end that almost looks like a ball and is very characteristic of previous Sosa bats from the latter part of his career.

Here is a LS and Rawlings bat used by Sosa.

Nice corked bat, major steroid drug abuser collectibles. This guy is a way below average player with warning track power who cheated and disgraced the game. Why in the world would anyone want to collect this stuff?

I hate his stupid hopping and kissing gestures after he hit his illegitimate HR's as well. What a joke.

Here`s my `98 Gamer. Getty has a similar image (dated may 21/22/98) with the donut impression shadow/ball mark etc. The shadow is distinctive, having a triangular shape. Also there`s 2 sets of cleat marks on the back barrel, that look pretty close.
