Game Used 80's cap - Need Help of any kind!!!

Hello Members I am currently being offered by someone a Game Used Mets cap from 1983. With a Lou Lampson Letter (What a Surprise):eek:

I do not have any pictures yet of the cap.

But I was wondering if anyone can tell me who made the caps in 1983 or more specifically in 83 for the Mets?

As described to me by the seller good ole Lou actually describes nothing to how he was able to determine it was from 83 or if the actual player wore the cap other then, It has sweat stains on it, size, and # under the bill.

So I am just curious if anyone is familiar with 80's game used caps?

My 1980-1981 Paul Mirabella Game Used Hat is a "New Era" Brand. The Tagging in the inside of the cap reads :
Since 1920
NEW ERA
Du Pont Visor
Weatherized
Pre-Shrunk
Perspiration Proof
PRO MODEL

It also has the hat size tagging 7 1/8 just to the right of it.
And the Standard uniform number in Black sharpie under the brim.

not sure if it helps but the "diamond collection" came into existance around 1991. (it was used by MLB licensees such as new era, russell, majestic, etc). any cap with a "diamond collection" label couldn't be from the 80s.

I have an 80s Yankees gamer that is a size 7 1/8 with the following tag "Since 1920 New Era Major LEague Pro Model Made in USA". Hope it helps.

I have a Mets cap from the '85 season that's the same as the jwasserman photo with the exception of the underside of the bill. The color on mine is green. That year the Giants used Sports Specialties as well. I also have Dodgers and Braves caps that are New Era from that year.
