Hey there Dave, it is my plan to take my son to Angels spring training on March 9 (my B-Day) and March 10. We are leaving SoCal that Saturday after his final basketball game. We are devout Angels fans but I only collect NY Jets, my true passion, so it is just a trip to watch our boys and eat lots of hot dogs!

I have many fond memories of collecting autographs as a kid, at spring training in Florida. Grown men asked for and sold autographs back then, but it's not like today. I haven't been to a Spring Training game in 15 years, so I'm sure things have changed. The weather in Florida during March is the best possible. A great time should be had by all!
I've never been to Arizona....but I kinda like the D-Backs....

This photo is From 1956 (or 1955) in Arizona, Cubs vs. Orioles. Notice the crowd. No Team caps, logo shirts, jerseys, nothing. Ever see the movie, "Safe at Home"? In Ft. Lauderdale, where the kid falls asleep draped in Maris and Mantle flannels? That's a $400,000 dollar nap.

I'm going to Fort Myers to see the Twins play during the third week of March. Hopefully they have a good St. Patrick's Day uniform ready to go. I'll probably Bat Boy a few games while I'm down there too. Who says you can't work while you're on spring break :-)

I am going down again for what must be the 10th year in a row (not much of a drive for me, though, as I live in north Florida). This is the 20th anniversary of my first trip to spring training, which happened when I was in college. One day a buddy and I both suggested going there for spring break, shunning Ft. Lauderdale for baseball, and we ended up with a road trip that created memories to last a lifetime.

Anyone have any tips on how to get broken bats? We were at a minor league ST game last year and one of the players gave my son one of his broken bats (that made his trip). I also caught the first MLB foul ball of my life that day.

I saw them this morning. Great group of guys; I just wish we had more time to stay there and talk to them but they had a safety meeting at 8:30 so we had to keep moving.

Plus, I leave tonight for Tucson and on Friday I fly out to Florida. I'm skipping the Royals.

I fly into Tampa Friday night and then travel to Orlando Saturday. I think the first team I see in Florida is the Tigers.

Every February, my wife gets tickets to check out the Angels as an anniversary present. We are heading out to Tempe this year on 3/14 to catch the 3/15 game against the D-Backs. This is the seventh year in a row we have done this. Great anniversary gift.

Just got back from St. Pete yesterday. While I didn't get anything, I did get out on the field for BP before the Reds/Rays game and wish I could have come away with this beauty....
