In the auction listing it says "Please do not ask how this item was obtained as we cannot disclose this publicly. The winning bidder will be provided with that information only."
Just my opinion, but I never really understood people who expect you to open your wallet and THEN they will tell you their source.
Anyone know the seller acl233? Is he affiliated with ebay seller nfl2mlb? They're both from Las Vegas and seem to have a similar background to their photos.
Always looking for game used San Diego Chargers items...
I am in now way making a judgement on these helmets, but I just received an Aaron Walker G/U Rams helmet yesterday and it is the 6th NFL G/U helmet I have bought in the last year. I also have a few replicas I have built just for display as well. So for comparison purposes, there is just something about the actual game helmets that in my opinion is impossible to re-create. The fact that there is so much daily use a player puts a helmet through during the course of a season outside of just game contact, that leaves evidence of tangible use, and wear that would just be too hard to duplicate. Maybe some of you agree or have actually seen replicas that have passed as game used but I think it would be hard to do outside of just adding stickers and a mask to the helmet.
I agree about the "secret source" listings. I also wonder when I see recon stickers that seem to have been scraped off. Makes me wonder about the age of the shell, particularly since I would imagine that intact dated recon stickers would be important for potential liability issues.
The seller has two usernames...acl233 and nfl2mlb. I bought a 2003 Warren Sapp Pro Bowl jersey(NFL COA stating that it was game issued(un-worn as he was injured) and he was a class act! Not sure about his helmets though!
