Ventura G/U bat issue

What are some of the members feelings about this bat with respect to the gold pen on the butt and the worn autograph? Otherwise the bat looks good down to his trademark tape job on the handle.

The auto is smudged, but looks to be a legit Robin Ventura signature.

Ventura wore number 23 from 1990 thru 1998 while playing for the White Sox.

On the knob the silver number appears to be a 28 with 23 written in gold over the 28.

So theirs no question that another player used this bat. On regards to other players using other players bats, from what I've seen is usually the player who was issued the bat in this case Ventura, his uniform number would be written first on the knob and if a teamate was given the bat by Ventura, he would then write his number over, in this case it's opposite.

To me, it looks like someone tried turning the silver number from a 1 into a 2, maybe trying to eventually get to a silver 23, then gave up and put a gold 23 on top.

The autograph looks good,the bat looks good. The only thought that came to mind was that the same paint pen used to sign it was also used to make the #23 on the butt end later on or Ventura was asked to write "23". Thanks to all and Suave1477 your items are always on my AOL favorites/ebay.
