What do you guys think about this 1961-64 TY COBB H&B model C28 34.5 inch bat. Came from the family of former Cincinnati Reds executive Chief Bender. He said Cobb gave it to him back in the early 1960s when Bender was with the Cardinals. Anyone ever seen a Cobb bat from this time period? Thanks, Adam

I can't open your link for some reason, but I can tell you that H&B did produce Ty Cobb bats for some promotional purposes in the 1960s. I have one from the 65-68 labeling period that was part of a Hillerich & Bradsby display in Minnesota.
Cobb died in July of 1961, so there would be a very small window for him to have received this bat and then pass it on to someone else.

Also just double checked -- Chief Bender passed away in 1954.

I never knew there was another Chief Bender!
It turns out that he was he so well respected in the Reds organization that they named their minor league player of the year award after him. He was also awarded the Purple Heart for his heroic actions during WWII.
And he was still working for the Reds during that very brief window in the first half of 1961 when Cobb could have given this bat away.

Purple Heart is getting wounded in battle by the enemy... not necessarily for heorism...

Not that simply being in battle isnt heroic, but I've been there and I am just making a clarification
