1985 Jose Canseco rookie game-used jersey.

given that canseco was first called up in sept 1985 and only played in 29 games in 1985, this would be a rare shirt indeed.

1) the front team wordmark is incorrect and appears to be hand-cut
see image below.

2) the rawlings tag is inappropriate for 1985. that variation of the 4-line tag seemed to appear for the first time in 1987.

3) the nob on the back uses an incorrect font.

4) one of the "3"s on the back is noticeably brighter than the other.

seller was notified privately days ago and has not replied.

Hey Rudy, very good research. I see how the front teamwork is different then the pics you provided. The front teamwork is just like the Road jerseys. Its just like my 86 Road Canseco. Ive also noticed that his first Home,road, and alternate of 86 has the set tag and also has the 2 inch extra length tag. also, the NOB is closer too the numbers. later on sets, only have the set tag and the NOB is further away from the numbers. it just seems, no 2 Canseco rookies are the same. I looked at Juan's 1985 Alternate Canseco. It has the proper tagging for 1985, and also its a set 1. I can't see the back, so I can't tell where the NOB is. I also looked at his set 1 86 Home jersey. the Nob is not even, as you can see some of the letters are smaller. the pic you provided, all the letters are even. I'm just saying, Canseco rookie jerseys are very different. I don't have an answer for the wrong tagging. one of the 3'S does look brighter, but then again it could be the camera or the light in the room. like always Rudy, very good points. indeed many canseco rookie jerseys are different. are the differences all legit through? i don't see why canseco's jerseys should be any different than the jerseys of the other players on the 1985 and '86 A's.

for me, the most disturbing trait is the front team wordmark. i can't see a single, legit reason why it would be handcut.

i think juan iglesias' jerseys are an excellent reference. his '85 alt shows the proper team wordmark. the rawlings tag is also correct. his '86 home jersey has the proper tagging and proper nob font. i don't believe the letters on his '86 are uneven. i think that particular area of the jersey is just folded a little so as to make the letters appear uneven. the jersey isn't laying perfectly flat.

my issue with the nob on the ebay jersey is the font is incorrect. it's most pronounced on the "A". check out the "A" on juan's jersey. juan's jersey shows the correct font.

Hey Rudy, unless you get a photomatch you really can't say for sure unless you get it from Canseco himself. I do see the difference in the A, Mine is like what Juan has. The front team wordmark is werid, but thats the way it looks on the road jerseys. I guess we need some info from the seller, on where it came from. You do make good points, it's frustrating too see so many different Canseco rookies. Teams have done werid stuff in the past, as I know from collecting Leaf jerseys lol. take care Dan
