Hey folks -

I am interested in the production of SSK Professional Model bats. I thought they were gone in the mid-1990's, but I just happened to come across a Soriano (Alfonso) on eBay.

Any idea on whether or not they ever lost MLB approval? Have players been using this brand of bat regularly? What year did they start producing bats for MLB use?

Actually, any info would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Dave,

Brad Ausmus of the Astros used a few of these at the beginning of 2007. Unfortunately, I can't find a photo on any of the photo sites.

I also remember Bonds using some in Spring Training, I think last year in 2007.

Thanks,

I can't speak for game play, but I have a really nice Joe Torre used SSK fungo bat from 2005.

Bonds used them a lot last season. I know his Sam bat orders were delayed or something so he used SSK quite a bit early in the season. I thought they were a newer company. They were around in the mid 90's?
