View Full Version : Post your odd research photos here
In researching details for Padres uniforms, I looked through some game photos from databases, then looked for yearbook pics.
Came across this one of Larry Bowa captaining the 1987 Padres ship. Thought I would share...
By the way, he sailed the ship to a 65-97 record and sixth place. Ahoy!

Anyone venture a guess as to why this SI regional cover was recalled?

I'm too lazy to scan all the pics, but my 78-79 Sixers yearbook features some kids that had a little bit of success further down the road.
Mike Bibby, Chris Collins, Kobe Bryant and India Arie.
The family photo shoot was a little too early to include Tamika Catchings, but her siblings are pictured.

In STL, there was a contest run by a local paper reagrding a strange photo of Chris Duncan and a champagne bottle...the contest was to insert a photo of something more appropriate.
Here were a few winners. The ones I thought were funny - yet acceptable for viewing in a public forum. I came across these looking for bat photos and saved them.
For those of you not in STL, the opinions most fans have of Duncan make these photos even more hilarious. He is basically a bumbling powerful coach's son....

I believe the following caption came with this photo.
"Boston Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon demonstrates to teammates the grip behind his new pitch "the slutter" (combination slider and fastball). Manny Ramirez was quoted as saying he was very impressed with the new pitch."

Great picture of Doc, Straw and Iron Mike in their heyday but it's safe to say that this photo is a coke dealers wet dream!
Anyone remember when Chewbacca threw out the first pitch at Fenway in 2005?
(By the way, I hear the Yankees are thinking about signing him)
