Loved Chris Young when he was here with the Rangers and still enjoy watching him pitch. I also know what it's like being hit from playing college ball and that's also a scary situation. However, I think that jersey would be a great piece to have in any collection.

And of course I thought of Nolan when I first saw the highlight.

I would probably give up my entire collection to get my hands on that Nolan jersey.

Bo Jackson re-arranged Nolan's face. He is a tough son of a gun!

Nolan usually got the best of Bo, but he also hit the longest HR in the history of Arlington Stadium off Nolan as well. One of at least 3 stadiums Bo hit the All Time distance HR (Kaufmann and Fenway as well).

Michael - Reminds me of kylehess10's Willy Taveras jersey.

Frik,

Yeah, the Taveras jersey is pretty nice. Anytime you can get a gamer with the dirt and sweat still on it is something worth holding on to.

Fnaz,

And of course Nolan stayed in the game. That's what everyone loved about him. That's why I always looked up to him when I was playing ball. That shows how tough a guy he really was on and off the field. Just ask Robin Ventura . . . ;)

Its nice Nolan stayed in the game but I don't think its any reflection on someone who is genuinely injured to come out. And despite the blood maybe he wasn't hurt as much as Young was.

cjclong,

I do agree with you. In no way am I trying to say that Young should have stayed in the game. That type of injury is very serious and should not be taken lightly. I have just always respected Nolan for all his hard work and dedication and I believe that shows in this picture.

Thanks, I think we both admire Nolan's staying in the game and don't criticize a player who is really hurt for coming out.

The interesting thing was that after Pujols' line shot took Young out of the game with a fractured nose, two batters later, as Pujols was headed home, he and catcher Josh Bard collided at the plate and Bard had to be removed from the game with a 'high ankle sprain.' The replay looked like Bard was lucky his leg didn't snap.....

By the way, the local Padres broadcast did not show any replay of Young getting hit, saying that it was 'too bloody for family TV." Quite a difference from Joe Theismann on Monday Night Football when his broken leg was shown repeatedly in slo-mo, super enhanced, zoom close-up replays
