Early Monday morning, 6/9/08, The Weather Channel had a segment about the destruction of ash trees by the ash borer and the effect on ash trees available to LS and other bat producers. The was a brief interview of an LS batmaker named Danny Luckett. Very interesting.

It's kind of pathetic that the only reason why we care about ash trees is for baseball bats. But I think that it would be better to go to aluminum before we cut down forests that are the natural habitats of animal species.

Obviously, the clearcutting of major forests is a huge concern however that aside, aluminum bats in the hands of major league baseball players is a major incident up to and including somebody getting killed waiting to happen.
