Shipping to me Monday. It is cupped and 34". According to the seller it was given to him by Boggs before Spring Training in 1983 and Boggs him told he had 90+ hits with it. Brian, do you happen to know how many flame treated C235's cupped that Boggs ordered in 1982? Any other Boggs collectors have any thoughts? Thanks so much.

Oh... and if anyone has a photo of Wade swinging this style bat in 1982 (or 83) it would be much appreciated. Thanks! JeremyAlways looking for great bats from members of the Red Sox HOF. -
Re: My New Boggs Rookie (82) Gamer - BMH
Hi Jeremy--
Boggs first ordered model C235C (cupprd end) 4/15/82 (34.5" / 32 oz / Flame Treated finish / 6 bats.) The next order (same dimensions, 6 bats) is documented 3/10/83. Five other orders (same dimensions etc) are documented in 1983, a total of 36 more bats. Also, in Oct 1983, 48 bats were listed as BB Miscellaneous (with specified weight thus presumed to be for Boggs' professional use.)
All bats noted above were the same model, length,, weight, and finish. You may want to check the length more precisely, as it appears likely to be 34.5 inches rather than 34 inches.
Good luck

Re: My New Boggs Rookie (82) Gamer - BMH
Thanks Mike! I will measure the bat precisely when I receive it. I have a kind of rookie question though... doesn't cupping shave a little off the length of a bat? I have been told that a 34.5" bat could lose between .25 and .5" due to cupping. Like I said... this is probably a rookie question.Always looking for great bats from members of the Red Sox HOF.Comment

Re: My New Boggs Rookie (82) Gamer - BMH
it will loose at least .25. i have a tony gwynn gamer that was ordered 33", but due to cupping is 32.75. if the boggs is cupped, it should be close to 34.25.
make sure that the use is on the right of the barrel, as you hold the bat and look at the labels. that is a good trait of a boggs gamer.
i recently bought a boggs bat thinking it was a gamer, but wasn't. it ended up being a promo bat. same model, but no cup. needless to say, i returned it for a refund.Comment

Re: My New Boggs Rookie (82) Gamer - BMH
Thanks Mike and Momen55! I have received the bat and at least to me it seems to be a beauty. I measured the bat at 34.25 (maybe a hair shorter). There are marks all over the bat but the blue ball marks are predominantly where you would expect them (right side of the barrel with label up).
Here are some pics I just took:
Any more thoughts from the Boggs experts? I really value them. Does anyone have a pic of him swinging this style bat in '82 (or '83)?Always looking for great bats from members of the Red Sox HOF.Comment
