Auction Magazines: Do you keep them or throw them away?

What do you guys do? Keep 'em or trash 'em?

I've been saving all of mine ever since I first started collecting. This is just about 1 1/2 years of auction mags I have. I thought they would come to great use someday if I'm looking for a piece that was in a previous auction.

I used to keep all that crap. All it is is a fire hazard. They are worthless, and you can usually go to auction sites and look in their archives rather than keep the firestarters. I keep nothing. Once I have read it; it goes in the recycling bin or trash - whatever I see first.

I like to keep those which have a lot of bats with good pictures and descriptions for comparison with future auctions. I record prices next to the descriptions. The SCD auction history is nice but not always accurate. I also like to keep the catalogues with older and rare items. Rex

Usually on the auction websites you'll find a link to request a catalog and they'll just keep sending you more before every auction they have in the future.

I used to be on American Memorabilia's mailing list. I don't get their catalog anymore. I think I was blacklisted. I think it is because I badmouthed their catalog models on this forum?

"You'll never bid in this town again!". Oh well, tears dry.

I keep every auction catalog i receive. I have catalogs dating back to 1999. They are a great source of reference. My all time favorite is the Halper Sotherbys auction catalogs. That one I had to pay $30 for!

How you can throw away auction catalogs is beyond me. Only a few auction houses keep that information online and it only goes back about five years. How do you expect to do any type of research when you're chucking all the history?
