Just to brag a bit...

My father used to lend cars to many of the Phillies players back in the 80s and early 90s. I would always ask for signed bats from any of the players he worked with (and anyone else who would listen.) The bats had been in my parents house until this past week when I flew in and packed them up and shipped them to my home in Miami. I hadnt gone through the bats in years. I would guess only about 30-40% are used and the rest issued but almost all at least have numbers on the ends and rack marks. Its a lot more Luis Aguayo and Steve Jeltz than Carlton, but still very cool stuff. They just arrived yesterday so Ill be photographing them and checking the wanted ads to see what I have that some of you may want. There are a few from other team too. When the selling forum gets up and running Ill be selling some (but keeping many.) Great memories but now of course a space issue. there are a good 75 bats (and a few uniforms.)
Here is a picture of the 3 boxes I shipped them in that I just opened (50lbs a box...DHL earned some bucks.) Also kudos to my wonderful wife who lovingly bubblewrapped each bat.

Here is a cool thing I found while going through the bats:

Its an Ivan DeJesus game used bat. Shows tons of use. Whats funny is that it was another players model but he sanded the name off and wrote his own name in. Also in the collection was a Gary Mathews bat that matched up with the model number of the DeJesus bat so it was easy to see who's bat he used (note the GM on knob.) Cool player modification I think.

I would like to say congrats on reconnecting with this long lost collection of memorabilia. I had an old bat collection in storage at my mom's house that I hadn't seen in about 17 years so when I finally got them out it brought back so many good memories from my childhood. Sounds like it did the same for you. It's funny how upon seeing a particular bat I could remember the exact situation of how and when I got it even though it had been close to 25 years.

Anyhow, I ended up selling all mine and had some regret about it for awhile after so enjoy them while you have them and good luck in whatever you decide to do with them!
