Hi There ,

I was wondering if any of the GUU experts have any info on the BJ Upton T-160 M-9 Louisville Slugger . I have not received the bat yet , I won the auction this past Monday.

I was wondering if you knew when/what season they were used and how many were made . Also who was the T-160 originally made for.

I hate to ask BMH for any help cause I know you get a lot of requests. But if you have time Brian , I would appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks in advance to all for your help.

The T160 is a T141 handle with a C243 barrel. I doing this off the top of my head since I'm in NY for Fanfest, but I do believe I made it for a Japanese player named TSAI or a company by that name, can't remember which.

Here is some better pics of the Upton bat !

Bats specs are:

Weight is just under 32 ounces (2 pounds), bat handle is taped , could add a little weight.

Length is just over 33 inches long , close to 33 1/4" ......

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Thank you very much to Brian H. (BMH)!

I just received word from him that the T-160 was ordered in 2007 by BJ and only a dozen were made :D:D:D:D:D:D:D!

I would say that is really COOL !

I think based on this info the bat I have is VERY RARE !

I am very happy !

Thanks again Brian!

It is for sale if anyone is interested, he wants $225.00.....

Theirs is un-cracked...

So I know when 2 of the 12 bats are....

I went to the card store yesterday and what a joke ! The other Upton bat they had for sale is just a piece of crap Pro Stock Signed Upton bat. No sign of selling the un-cracked T-160 .....

On a good note I did pick up a Micah Schilling Mariucci bat. I thought he was in the Devil Rays farm system , but he is in the Mets. If anyone wants to trade or buy it LMK...

Apparently Upon has ordered this bat prior to 2007 as well. On ebay there a T-160 with BJ's #9 on the ends. BJ wore #35 and #9 during the 2004 season. He was not on the pro roster in 2005. IN 2006 he started wearing #2...... BMH told me a dozen T-160 were ordered in 2007....

Yes, a dozen of them were ordered in 2007. Eighteen were ordered in 2006 during ST.

Thanks a ton for your in-put Brian! :)

This site is very lucky to have you as a member.

I am very appreciative of your time and effort in responding with answers that could not be obtained anywhere else on our great planet!!!!!

Did BJ order any T-160's in 2004?

If none were ordered in 2004 than that means BJ did not use the bat listed on ebay for it has #9 on it....BJ wore #9 and #35 in 2004.

Thanks again!

No, the first time he ordered them was Jan. of 2006.

I stand Corrected , I just checked the 2006 Devil Rays Media Guide and BJ was #9 in 2006 Spring Training. During the regular Season he went to #2.

Just another reason why it so important to have Media Guides.....

The bat listed on ebay is a 2006 Spring Training bat , but still nice.....

Brian,
I was wondering if you could tell me if the 2007 order had "Tampa Bay Rays" under the name rather than Tampa Bay Devil Rays". If not was there a subsequent order in 2008? There was a recent eBay auction for a B. J. Upton T160 (item #130329882375) that had the new team name on the bat.

Thanks in advance for your help.

They would have to be a new order. 2008 they started having Rays only...

I forgot to mention, 2008 was the first year Louisville Slugger put Tampa Bay Rays only.

However, briefly in 2001 Rawlings and Easton put only "Rays" on their bats when they were expecting a name change from "Devil Rays". But it never officially happened till 2008. That is when LS started doing so......

Thanks David. I'm now curious as to the total number of T160s that were produced for B.J. Upton including both team name variations. The 2006 and 2007 orders that Brian mentioned would have had the "Tampa Bay Devil Rays" notation. However, apparently there were additional orders after that with the "Tampa Bay Rays" designation.

You're welcome.

It would be nice to know how many have been made since 2008.

Brian do you have an answer? Please....

Currently there is a Upton U-45 LS on eBay. Seller has it listed with a BIN of $795.00 OBO.

A T-160 just sold for $142.99 (MLB authenticated). His bats seem to sell right around that mark......
