Question on Edgar Renteria game-used jersey

Hello all,

Probably a stupid question, but was hoping you guys could help. I recently won an Edgar Renteria game-used jersey on an MLB Tigers auction. It is MLB authenticated, and came with a letter from the team congratulating me for winning the game-used jersey.

However, when I checked it out with the MLB authentication database, it is described as a team-issued jersey. Does this mean they might be wrong in saying it was game-used, or can team-issued still mean game-used?

Here's what it said:

If the authenticator did not see the jersey come straight off Renteria's back, then they HAVE to put it in the database as game issued.

In your opinion (or others), does that mean I can feel pretty confident that it indeed is game-used if the Tigers are saying so? I'm probably being a bit paranoid.

I agree too, if the authenticater didn't see it come off the field, its team issued...which is good . I'd rather see them error on side of caution. I think I may remember that jersey...seeing as it was april 14th, renteria changed jersey sizes shortly after he got to detroit, so they issued him new jerseys.

I wouldn't worry about game issued. A few teams are all listed as game isssued from some recent seasons. I know some sets from the Braves, Brewers, Twins all say game issued because authenticator wasn't there watching them take them off after a game.

As long as the jersey shows use (when you get it and have a chance to inspect it in-person), then otherwise I wouldn't be worried. I have 3 jerseys actually that are in the database as game issued, though all are game used. I even photomatched 2 of them.



Also, does anybody know what Renteria's new jersey size is? He's been wearing a size 48 for awhile now.

I received the jersey last week. There isn't a great deal of wear on it, at least not with my naked eye. There appears to be some (very) faint dirt on some parts of the jersey, but it almost appears like they washed the jersey before sending it off. I don't know, I would have hoped for more noticeable wear and tear to make me feel a bit better. I guess I'm just going to have to put my trust in the Tigers on this one.

Perhaps this will comfort you a bit.......the jersey you have was first worn by Renteria in the first several games of the season......it didn't fit him well and the jersey kept coming untucked and it ticked Leyland off so he made him get a different jersey to wear which he has on now (or did until the team just released the first set of regular season gamers)........this information is directly from Marc who runs the Tigers authentics department as I was personally contacted by him about the jersey when he first got it.........also.........the Tigers/MLB set the date for the sets to be switched out so the MLB rep can show up and stamp them all with his "game worn" approval and MLB Hologram......if he is not there at the time it is taken off (which he wouldn't have made a special trip just for Renteria), then it is listed as game issued. Hope that helps a little bit....enjoy the game worn Renteria gamer!
