    Original Air Jordan Shoes

Air Jordan shoes seem to be a hot comody on ebay these days; the Original Air Jordan I from 1985 being the most coveted. These shoes have been reproduced in 1994 and also in 2000 I believe.

My question is- what do you think the Original Air Jordan (1985) would be worth autographed and authenticated by UDA?

I have no idea what they are worth, but you do understand, UDA would be authenticating the autograph only - The shoes them self would not be authenticated by Upper Deck Authenticated.

right on- only the autograph would be authenticated by UDA.

assuming the shoes ARE in fact authentic Im wondering what they would go for. It seems like they would be a desirable jordan item.

You can submit things to UDA for authentication?

Like if I went out and met McGwire at the mall and he signed a ball for me, I could send that in to UDA and they'd render an opinion?

no, you cannot submit things to upper deck- at least ive never heard that you can. I plan on getting an item signed at Michael Jordans basketball camp- each camper gets one autograph- all autographs are witnessed in person and authenticated by UDA on the spot. THe camp is expensive though- $15k

The shoes look like original, authentic, retail Jordan 1's. I've seen them sell for around 3 Gs (in un-used condition)...maybe more in Japan.

$15,000 for Jordan's Camp? Buy the "Better Basketball" video and be "Big Time like Mike Bibby"! Please tell me MJ is giving the money to charity...

Upper Deck Authenticated authenticates items autographed in front of a member of their staff. They do not do 3rd party authentication.

I did some homework on the shoes in question and from the serial number they appear to be originals from 1985/1986. The first 2 digits denote the year manufactured.

                I hope this helps!

Very interesting post about Air Jordans. I remember a few years back, 7 or so, seeing an ad in SCD when somebody in Japan or thereabouts were buying original Jordans at astronomical prices. I didn't believe it at the time, but I had a pair of the red and black on white. They were well worn and I think I got $75 for them. A friend of mine had the blue and black ones, and I think I got $450 for them. They were absolutely beaten up. There is a market for these shoes. There was also a report on either ESPN or in Sports Illustraded showing some of the rare Jordans that are worth upwards of $7,000-10,000. It was an interesting article to say the least. They had production runs and some of the shoes Nike made only a handful of. Maybe a bit off topic, but I thought it would be cool to share. Having MJ autograph these definitely adds to the collectability! -Scott

Nice item, but it seems like a lot of cash. What's your upside with these shoes?

You might never have thought a thread on Air Jordan would include an exhibition at the Vancouver Art Gallery, but as the photo shows, the artist Brian Jungen has done some incredible work with Air Jordans, by creating works of art from them, and incorporating native Haida imagery and symbols. It's truly incredible exhibit, both for the art lover and for Michael Jordan fans (MJ has himself bought one of the pieces for his collection).

Joel- I like collecting the Jordan items that I dont see everyday. Ive never seen a pair of his original air jordans (1985 version) signed. I have seen the retros (remakes in 1994 and 1999) signed- $3k. And, I have seen some game used rookie shoes in auctions.

These would be special because these were the actual shoes (same colorway) that the NBA banned in MJ's rookie yr, yet he kept wearing them and paid the fine every game. Also they are the start of the Air Jordan line.

There are other items that i desire as well- items that i never see. Old MJ all star game jerseys prior 96, as well at the 92 dream team jersey. These are items I consider unique because I have RARELY seen the item available and NEVER seen them autographed (the unworn editions).
