    Steal of the Month

I offer a new monthly thread:Steal of the Month. For August I offer the following.
In July an ebay seller,"intheminors" offered a Hudson Valley Rengades #30 jersey. It sold for $91 dollars. This month the buyer,"josh_donat", re-listed the jersey under the heading Josh Hamilton Minor league jersey which may be absolutely correct. It sold for $338.33! josh_donat also provided a LOA from the Renagades which stated that Josh Hamilton wore this jersey during the 1999 season. Before this second auction ended, I emailed "intheminors" telling him that his former jersey is being relisted by his buyer and - did he provide the LOA and if he did, why didn't he list it as a Josh hamilton from the beginning? I' didn't get any response from them as they probably goofed and still haven't got up from the floor.

      Sorry, I didn't get your e-mail.

I saw that too. I'm not sure where he got the letter as it did not come from me. That's a pretty quick turnaround to get a letter from the team certifying a jersey almost 10 years ago.

Also, Josh is 6'4" and 235 lbs. The jersey is a size 48 and I thought it was a small 48 at that.

Kudos to the seller for making that kind of profit.

        Intheminors,
I believe you. I live 12 miles from the Renegades. If anyone should have bought that from you it should have been me. I will now check game "worn" as well as game "used" from now on. Here is the ebay message I sent you.

        Dear intheminors,

Hello-Last month you sold this jersey(Renegades #30). Its being sold as a Josh Hamilton game used jersey with a letter of authenticity which wasn't mentioned in your auction. Did you also include this letter with jersey? You can see this auction(your old jersey) on ebay under "Josh hamilton game worn minor league jersey jersey"

The big question now is where did he get the LOA?

Hey guys. I'm the guy who bought the jersey. Thanks to Swoboda for giving me the head's up about this thread. I do plan on asking the seller how the LOA came about, and I'll be sure to post the response. Everything checked out to me. It might be a 48, but Josh was a pretty skinny kid out of high school. Combine that with the fact that the pics posted in the auction show him wearing a fairly tight jersey, and I'd say it's legit. I'll try to keep everybody posted as I get more info. Seller got quite a profit, but I also (hopefully) got a HUGE item for my Hamilton collection.

I was down in Florida in 1999 . We went to a Spring training game between the Marlins and Devil Rays. We ended up getting Beckett. But just as Hamilton was getting ready to sign, he was call over to practice. %#&@ . Anyway, he was pretty lanky then.
