Craig Biggio Game Used Bat Question

Please take a look at the attached images.

This bat may be the one referenced in this post:

Although there is a picture of Biggio using a bat without a model number, I'd like to hear others thoughts in this. Also, the "7" on the knob looks inconsistent with the way I've seen "7" written on other Biggio bats (and Berkman bats for that matter).

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Craig Biggio Game Used Bat Question

    Chris,

This appears to be a bat that John Taube asked my opinion on recently. I forwarded him the same picture I own of Biggio using the bats without model number. The bat you show is definitely a Biggio gamer, but might be considered less desirable due to the lack of model number. As for the #7, their are two ways you will see a #7 written by Astros personal. This is correct for mid-90s to 2001. The other style of #7 has a little line coming off the top. I own 22 Biggio bats as of today, with the majority of the 1988 to late 90s having the style of #7 you show. Generally after 2000 the trend went to the more current #7 which you reference on Berkman bats.

Ax mentioned, John e-mailed me photos of the above bat and I gave him my blessing based off working directly with the Astros equipment handlers. I have seen 4 distinct different Biggio bats without model number showing good Biggio characteristics.

As a note, I am currently paying between $900 and $1400 for Biggio bats if anyone has any available!

    Thanks,

    Chris Boyd
