Mizuno Bat Engraving

I don't collect many bats so my knowledge of them is somewhat limited, however I do have a black Mizuno gamer. Could someone tell me what an engraved "A" on the bottom of the knob indicates? Thanks for your time.

Matsui didn't play for the yankees in 2000. I believe his first season there was 2005?

Perhaps 00 is the number of world series rings he won while with the yankees.
