All,
Listed on ebay this week is a game used jersey of former Mets pitcher SID FERNANDEZ:
It's definitely a team issued jersey; however, it is NOT game used. I emailed the seller yesterday evening with information on the jersey, but I have not received a reply, nor has he adjusted his listing. 8 bids later, I thought I'd make you all aware of the situation.
Back in 1985, there was a good chance that the Mets would make the playoffs. The team then ordered jerseys for the playoffs - these jerseys are tagged slightly differently than the 85 gamers...instead of "85" on the strip tag, they are labeled "85P" (with the "P" indicating playoffs). The trouble is, the Mets did not make the playoffs in 1985, and this set never actually was used.
What this auction is for in reality is a "playoff issued" jersey, not a game used jersey. The value of such a jersey is considerably less than a game used jersey. Again, the jersey is not "BAD", but is not exactly as described. Bid accordingly...
