How Significant are Team-Repairs (NFL)

With NFL GU jerseys, if there are team-repairs, how much more likely does that mean that the jersey was game-worn by that player? I've heard of people sewing on numbers and name-plates to other jerseys to make it look like it was that players jersey, but if there are repairs to the jersey, how significant is that in indicating game-use?

Not necessarily game time significant, but it makes photo matching an item much easier!
