San Diego Chargers Muncie jersey tagging

Hello to all the knowledgable folks out there. I need some help on authenticating an early to mid 80's Chuck Muncie San Diego Chargers home white jersey. The tagging is by Champion but it lists the size as XL instead of a numerical size. The name on back is a on a nameplate and the letters are plastic / rubber. The ironic thing is that if when the name is viewed from the inside of the jersey, it appears that some of the letters had started to peel away from the name plate and the team(?) stitched them back on in certain spots. The stitching is professional, similar to what is found on sewn on names. There are also numerous team repairs. Can anyone shed some light on this jersey? The Chargers used Sand Knit in that era on the gamers and practice jerseys not champion

My experience with chargers jerseys from that era is sizes such as M L and XL were on the retail jerseys while the number sizes were on the gamers. Would be interested to see what the jersey looks like.

Here are some photos. I tried to show the unusual situation with the letters in the name MUNCIE being heat pressed onto the nameplate but then sewn in spots to hold them on due to lifting and peeling. There are other photos of what look like team repairs. Also, the shoulders seem to be a double mesh material

Just got it back from MEARS - it is authentic and game used! Graded at A10. It's a 1980 home jersey!

That era/style of Champion manufacturer tag is usually found with a lettered, not numbered, size.

Has anyone ever seen a Chargers jersey from 1980 or any other era made by Champion?
