My initial thought was wow!!!

What do fellow Steelers collectors think about this?

The seller answered some questions in the listing, but was evasive as to where it exactly originated from.

What is odd to me is the tagging....I personally have never seen Sand Knit tagging on a Steelers game jersey that was only sewn on the sides?

Here is a photo of a Steelers jersey and other football jerseys from the same era with similar tagging, however, these jerseys show tags that are completley sewn all the way around?

I was told by another collector that the Steelers equipment manager at that time, has stated that Lambert has his Super Bowl X jersey...can anyone confirm or deny this?

I am NOT stating this jersey is bad, just making some observations...whoever has accquired this jersey, if you can DEFINITIVELY PHOTO MATCH it to Super Bowl X, you have accquired a real gem!!!! :)

None of my '74 durenes have the "74" tag. Interesting in that the seller has sold two other items...a car and a timeshare. Only buy from that ebayer is a coin collection. Looks like someone who sincerely thinks they have a SBX gamer to me.

although i don't know anything about jerseys, that thing looks like a real beauty, the real deal - btw the seller has ended the auction early...

The stitching on the Sand Knit tags is more 80s-style (zig zag). My 70's Sand Knit tags all have straight sewing-machine type stitching.

Is the white jersey with the Thorp sporting Goods tagging a NY Jets jersey? If so, can you post additional photos? Thanks for sharing partner...

The taggins is consistant with other 1975 Sand Knit NFL jerseys I have seen. Attached are photos of a Redskins Terry Hermeling jersey he used starting in 1975 and wore through 1977. The tagging is exactly the same, but the Redskins never employed year tags as the Steelers did.

Although this jersey is a beautiful one, a bicenntenial patch is easy to come by. That could have been a gamer, just with added tagging to make it look like it was from SB X. I'd pay much more than the $12k if I could be guaranteed it were legit. I mean to have the jersey that Lambert ragdolled Cliff Harris in would be priceless!

BTW...did anyone notice that the letter of authenticity in the auction was for a 1980 home jersey?

the loa has nothing to do with the ebay jersey (nor does loa photo show a bicentennial patch) - the ebay seller stated in his ad that he was including "old auction prices" (read: the loa for another jersey from another auction) to give prospective buyers an idea of what a lambert jersey has fetched in the past...
