Forum Readers-

I just picked up 2 Texas Rangers jersey in a trade. What's interesting is that both have an embroidered strip tag in the tail, not the MeiGray tag. After many calls to Majestic and contacting a few people who have extensive knowledge of current Majestic tagging, I have learned that Majestic used this type of tagging on sample/salesmans sample jerseys.

The Rangers I have are just that-salesmans samples or jerseys made for their reps to show prospective clients (schools, etc.). Both have 0062 tagging.

Here is the Ichiro with similar tagging:

I sent an email to the seller with this same info.

If anyone has any interet in one or both of my Rangers jerseys, please make me an offer. They are not gamers, ever worn and are being sold as such.

Thanks.

There were some Red Sox jerseys that were on eBay a couple months ago with this same tagging. The seller was honest and listed them as salesman samples. Jerseys were from 2005 and were #5. I believe it was a home jersey and alternate red jersey.

Here is the response from the seller:

Item: ICHIRO 2003 Mariners GAME-USED JERSEY GAI COA 1/1 auto (8784155040 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8784155040&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1))This message was sent while the listing was active.arturo420 is the seller.http://pics.ebaystatic.com/aw/pics/s.gifHey, salesman sample or not, this jersey was purchased with the COA from GAI and a guarantee from that company that it was game used in preseason. I don't knwo what else to tell ya.

Folks, as I always say...DO YOUR HOMEWORK and don't depend on a worthless LOA. Once again, non game worn, non team issued shirt with LOA indicating it is a gamer.

Howard,

Very interesting info. Personally, I'd be more interested in GAI's response than the sellers'. I don't suppose you contacted them?

Seller's responses are typically along the lines of "but it has a LOA!". I'd love to hear what GAI thought of the highly atypical tagging. How can you look at a tag with such a bizarre code and issue an LOA stating "game worn"? If you didn't know what the code meant, then why go ahead and assume it was good?

Rudy.
