I could be mistaken, but I thought a similar autographed mantle ball sold several years ago. It read "I slept with Marilyn Monroe - Mickey Mantle". I had heard he signed it as a jab at Joe D.

I think it brought tons more than what this guy is asking!! I tried finding the old auction listing, but don't have it anymore.

A Davey Johnson forgery? Dave graduated from my high school and we used to get our haircut at the same place throughout the early 90s! He would laugh at the very thought of someone forging his name. Jack Billingham and Joann Flugg also attended Winter Park High. Joann Flugg was a co-host of "Candid Camera" and an ex-wife of Chuck Woolery. Since, I have lived in Hollywood for the past 10 years and my "name-dropping" has advanced!

both-teams-played-hard- I understand what you're saying. But if I were going to forge celebrites names it wouldn't be the famous players. The example of Johnson's signature here is bad. His signature doesn't vary-check your yearbook.
(PS:I know two people who sort of make a living off of forging non-high profile celebrites-they feel exactly like you stated, any objections is laughable).

I agree. If some of these jersey "forgers" threw some bench-warmers in the mix, it may make their wares seem more legit. BTW, Davey is at least 20 years older than me...we attended the same high school, but not at the same time. Wonder if this seller has a "questionable" Bob Feller?
