Hi--

Here's the info on Willie Horton's use of Model K75 Louisville Sluggers:

Based on a review of Horton's h & B factory records from 9/25/61 through 1981, his first order of Model K75 bats was shipped on 9/3/69. That model remained his most frequently ordered model throughout that labeling period (through 1972). All orders of K75, including K75L, K75XL, and K75C bats were 35 inches in length and weighed between 32 1/2 ounces and 36 ounces.

Horton didnt order model K75 again until the 1977 - 1979 labeling period, at which time he ordered them in lengths of 35 1/8 inches (yes, you read that right) and 35 1/2 inches. Weights were between 33 1/2 ounces and 35 ounces at that time. His final orders of Model K75 bats were shipped in 1980 (new label) and measured 35 1/2 inches in length and weighed 34 or 35 ounces.

Horton's bats were generally either Flame treated or Unfinished, and he generally requested that weights be marked on the knob. Also, there is a notation that "All bats must be Medium to Wide grain -- if not, DO NOT SEND."

Other Models Horton used with some degree of regularity throughout his career included:
1961 - 1964 1/2: K55, B91, M110
1964 1/2 - 1972: H203, C229, S2L, K75
1973 - 1975: S2L
1976: S2L
1977 - 1979: S2L, J93
1980 - 1981: J93, D125

Over 90 % of all bat orderd from Horton were 35 inches in length. A few orders of 34 1/2 inches were made early in his career, and orders 35 1/2 inches were found towards the end of his career.

If you have a specific Horton bat you are wondering about that is not on this list, let me know and I will research it further.

Good Luck in future collecting.

Mike
