Hi, guys. Were the post 1976 Bobby Murcer S2Ls significantly lighter than the bats he used earlier in his career? Thanks, Terry.

Hi-

Bobby Murcer's first documented order of Model S2L was shipped on 3/12/77. Specs were 35 inches / 33 ounces. That was the characteristic Murcer order between that date and 6/14/83, and accounted for over 90 % of his orders.

Deviations in length included a few orders of 34 inch and 34 1/2 inch Model S2L bats. Deviation in weights were very few-- with approximately seven orders of 32 ounce Model S2L bats, and one order of 34 ounce S2L bats.

At some point, the defining feature of Murcer's bats became the directive: "On all of Murcer's bats move center brand up one inch."

Jim, with his wealth of experience with Yankee bats, may be able to pin that down a little more based on bats he has personally seen.

For the record, early models used by Murcer included K55, R43, and M110, with several other models being ordered only once or twice during his career.

The rare, very infrequently ordered Murcer models include D2, D105, G97, G137, W215, R128, and M242 (made for him 7/10/75 and ordered only once for a total of 12 bats.)

Good Luck.

Mike
