I had always thought that the jerseys that the Bulls wore in 84-85 were SAND KNIT. Were they really made by Rawlings? Did Jordan actually wear a size 42 in both home and away jerseys? Also, do you have any knowledge that these authentic Wilson jerseys were released to the public- I would have a tough time telling the difference between a game used jersey and a simple authentic considering the gamer has no special tagging? Your response is much appreciated.

Re: Game Used Michael Jordan Rookie Jersey
Yes, the Bulls wore Rawlings Michael Jordan's Rookie Season, they changed to a different manufacturer his second season and started wearing sand-knit not until his third season.
1984-85 Rawlings
1985-86 ???, I forget??
1986-87 Sand-Knit, no year tag
1987-90 Sand-Knit, with year tag
1990-1997 Champion
1997-98 Nike, Made in USA -
Re: Game Used Michael Jordan Rookie Jersey
To be honest comparing prices dam thats a steal if i had $10,000 to blow on a game used jersey i would definitely get that one.
When I say comparing prices I am referring to a regular season game used jeter jersey which is anywhere from $10,000 to $20,000
$10,000 for a rookie Jordan jersey autographed by Jordan - a man who revolutionized the game of basketball
You cant go wrong!!!Comment

Re: Game Used Michael Jordan Rookie Jersey
Forum readers-
I have seen a few Jordan Rookie jerseys in previous auctions. I remember them as having the standard red Rawlings tag in the tail, and not in the collar.
Can Both Team Played Hard or another Forum readers shed some light on this?
Thanks.

Howard,
Here is an example of a 84-85 Bulls home jersey. The tag appears to be on the collar.

I have never seen another "pro" (not retail) NBA jersey with this type of Rawlings tag.

As I originally posted, I have never seen collar tagging like this on a Rawlings gamer.

Re: Game Used Michael Jordan Rookie Jersey
Hello Joel-
No, I'm not planning on bidding on this particular jersey. I just remember seeing a rookie Jordan a few years ago, and don't recall ever seeing this type of tagging.
When it comes to Jordan, my collecting focus is on his 1994 baseball equipment. I currently own his 1994 White Sox pre-game, pants, hat, batting gloves/wristbands, and 3 game used bats. I'm still seeking a pair of his spikes from either the Sox or the Barons. Joel, do you know where a pair might be offered for sale? I've attached 2 photos of my Sox warm-up.
Thanks.

Re: Game Used Michael Jordan Rookie Jersey
I think the GFC Jordan has a tail tag, also. The size in the collar, the tail tag just says "Rawlings". I have always assumed this is the way a correct Jordan Rookie is tagged. I believe the Bulls wore Rawlings in Jordan's second year, also. I have never known of a pro-quality replica made by Rawlings, from that era. I do not know Rawlings' salesman's sample history, either.Comment

Re: Game Used Michael Jordan Rookie Jersey
Howard, I do not recall having game used spikes, but I did have about 10 pair of the 45 made of the Upper Deck Authenticated baseball cleats in giant display. They were pretty cool, often sold for around $7000.00 a pair. If any surface, I bet they won't realize more than $2000.00 these days.Comment

Also, The GFC Jordan and the AMI Woolridge are described as having "screened" lettering and numbers. In fact, they are heat-pressed. Heat-pressed are vinyl "iron-on" and screened are "painted" or "stenciled".Comment
