Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on this 1982 John Elway Stanford Gamer?

Any info on dating the Russell tagging?

I compared it to the 1982 images of Elway on getty images.. Here are some observations, correct me if I am worng:

1. Sleeves appear to be longer in getty photos
2. Jerseys in pictures on getty appear to be long in length not short cut
3. number 7 on front and back are a different font in pictures compared to jersey for sale

Could it be a practice jersey? Would there have been the name ELWAY on back of a practice jersey?

I don't know much about the vintage Stanford jerseys - but did you notice there is also an Elway Stanford jersey in the Vintage Authentic auction right now with some notable differences between these two evident.

wow - I just compared the pictures side by side - the #7 is totally different, the sleeves are different, and even the tag is different. They are both size 46 - otherwise very different looking jerseys. Maybe someone on here will have more insight.

I do not believe this could be an 82 game used jersey. The new era Russell logo is red and blue. I believe this new logo came out in 1985 or 1986. Elway entered the NFL in 1984. When Elway was at Stanford his logos should all be the vintage gold Russell color. I hope this helps!

I would hate to be the Stanford/Elway fan that forks out $10,000 for it.

I have no comment about this particular jersey or any other jersey, but I will say that I agree with Bruce about Russell tagging based on my observations of Russell jerseys. The earliest I have ever seen the red/white/blue "R" logo is on 1983 jerseys, and even in 1983, the gold-stitched Russell tag was also still in use. Furthermore, based strictly on my observations, the earliest version of the red/white/blue "R" logo tag did not have the 100% nylon tag as it was not added until a year or two later.
