Zinn-Beck bats

Hi, I was wondering if there is any school of thought on Zinn-Beck bats as gamers? I know some players used them a little. Are there any known identifiers that would tell me one is ONLY a store model, and any that might leave the door open as a gamer? I assume a hand-turned knob would help??
