Can I get some opinions on this one:

Mark Weimerskirch, I'd appreciate your 2 cents as well. I'm particularly curious about the tagging.

thanks,

Rudy.

Rudy and Howard,

This is a fairly easy one to comment on. The jersey may be game used, but not by Mr. Jackson. Reggie was not a coach with the A's in 1989. I believe he was called a "special consultant". The only year Reggie was a coach on the A's staff was 1991. As a matter of fact the A's list all of their past managers and coaches alphbetically on their website www.oaklandathletics.com (http://www.oaklandathletics.com) I would like to see the LOA from the A's and their equipment manager Steve Vucinich. The A's have made a few errors on their LOAs over the last seven years, but I have contacted Steve in the past and he has quickly sent me a new LOA. I believe this jersey was made for Reggie and given to him during the world series winning year.

Mark,

Thanks for the interesting comments. What do you make of the style of strip tagging though? Is that how the A's tagged their 1989 jerseys?
I'm curious because the Rawlings tag seems to be from 1990 and 1991, not from 1989. Now that you've said that the jersey was likely not used and instead made up for Jackson as some sort of gift or promo, I wonder if that may explain why the Rawlings tag doesn't match the year.
I'm also curious to know if the striptag is the proper style for 1989 A's jerseys.

thanks,

Rudy.

One other observation - there is no way he was a size 44 in 1989. At some point, scoreboard sold a bunch of replica Reggie A's jerseys. I do not recall if they were "tagged" or not.
