The bat you describe, a Wade Boggs H & B Model R161C from the 1984-1985 labeling period, 34 inches and around 30 ounces, is not supported by Boggs' personal factory records. During that time frame the following orders are listed in the records:
4/12/84 R161C 34 / 31 Natural Finish to Baseball Promotions 1 bat
8/28/84 R161C 34 / 31 Flame Treated to Baseball Miscell 1 bat
1/22/85 R161C 34.5 / 32 FT to Baseball Miscell 2 bat
All bats sent to Boggs personally via the Boston Red Sox during 1984 and 1985 were Model C235C , 34.5 inches and 31 or 32 ounces, with the exception of a single order of C235 bats.
Several orders of R161C bats were sent to Boggs between 1981 and 1983, however all were 34.5 inches in length. In 1990, 48 Boggs Model R161C bats were sent to Adair Baseball that were 34 inches in length with 1990 labeling.
