I'm relatively new to the whole game worn business.

I've only been collecting hockey and have 1 baseball jersey. Hockey ones are from Meigrey and the baseball was directely from the team.

I'm looking at perhaps expanding to basketball and football, but it seems that there is a lot of doubt in authenticity from some auction houses/sites.

For instance AMI.

So, in everyone's opinion, which house offers the best piece of mind?

Treat each auction house as if you're having a long conversation about investing with Bernie Madoff, in other words, be very, very, careful.

So called "good" auction houses have bad stuff, and so called "bad" auction houses sometimes have cool things. If you are interested in an item, look closely at the auction house's description, then read (or ask for) the LOA and compare the two for consistency. Then, post it here and ask one of the "wise men" for their opinion about the item and the LOA. After doing the above, you are ready to make a decision whether or not to bid for an item.

In the end, it's the item not the auction house that counts.

I think the hockey ones are best. www.classicauctions.net (http://www.classicauctions.net) and www.gamewornauctions.net (http://www.gamewornauctions.net).

For honesty, integrity, and just plain good customer service, this one is the best:

Robert Edward Auctions

Lelands is a good auction house. They are generally knowledgeable in many areas of collecting and I know from friends that they rectify situations were they were in error. I second that REA is one of the best and very honest. I do no know about their expertise in game used but that Huggins and Scott, which is up right know, is very honest and customer friendly. If they make a mistake it's an honest mistake.
